"To help keep their basic skills up to date, it is strongly recommended that first-aiders undertake annual refresher training." The Health and Safety Executive
This is NOT as good as a face to face annual update as it is not possible to assess the candidates ability to carry out practical skills such as CPR without face to face contact. Fo face to face courses please click here.
The annual course is used to update First Aid at Work training and Emergency First Aid at Work Training mid-qualification. This course is for people with at least one year left on their valid EFAW or FAW certificate. For more information please see the flow chart on our download page or give us a call and we would be happy to help.
On completion of this first aid training, candidates should have refreshed their knowledge of how to:
- Assess the situation in an emergency.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure.
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock.
This first aid course should also include any updates or changes to relevant first-aid procedures. This can be used as a stand-alone BLS / Basic Life Support course.
Duration
Basic skills update first aid courses will contain at least three contact hours run over half a day. Trainers will use online assessment to evaluate candidates. There is no final practical assessment. A certificate which is valid for 1 year is awarded to successful students.
